How long does a VP course take?
The total preparation time for a skilled person (vakbekwaam persoon, VP) exam depends on your prior knowledge, the level you choose and your learning style. Here you will find typical preparation times for online self-study with SwitchSkills.
Typical preparation time
As a guideline for candidates with limited prior knowledge:
- VP*: 8 to 12 hours in total (spread over 2–3 weeks)
- VP**: 15 to 20 hours (3–4 weeks)
- VP***: 25 to 35 hours (5–8 weeks)
- VP****: 40 to 60 hours (2–3 months)
What determines your time?
You progress quickly if you already have a technical background (electrician, technician). Without that background it takes longer, because you have more theory to build up. The built-in AI tutor helps with this.
When are you ready?
Exam readiness per module shows where you stand. If you score comfortably above the 70% pass mark in several exam simulations, and all modules are up to standard, it is a good time to schedule your official exam.
