What is the difference between the VP and IVWV exams?
The VP exam (skilled person) focuses on working safely, procedures and recognising risks in practical situations. The IVWV exam (person in control of the installation or work activity) puts more emphasis on responsibilities, switching, work agreements and organising work safely in accordance with NEN 3140.
How many questions are in the real exam?
The VP theory exam has 25 questions for VP*, 30 for VP**, 35 for VP*** and 40 for VP****. The number of questions in the IVWV theory exam is not fixed; IVWV consists of theory and a practical part with the switching programme (schakelbrief). The pass mark is 70%.
How many practice questions does SwitchSkills have?
The question bank contains more than 900 practice questions, spread over the 12 modules (exam objectives). Which modules apply to you depends on your level. Every question comes with an explanation and an exam tip.

Which language are the questions in?
The official exam is in Dutch. On SwitchSkills you can practise the questions in English, with the Dutch exam terms alongside, so you recognise them on exam day. The theory lessons are in Dutch for now; you can ask the AI tutor to explain anything in English.
What is the AI tutor and how does it work?
The AI tutor helps you when something is not clear yet. You can ask follow-up questions about terms, procedures and questions you answered incorrectly, so you understand more quickly why something is right or wrong.
How much does a subscription cost?
You choose between a weekly and a monthly subscription. Both give access to practice, exam simulations, theory and explanations. On the pricing page you can see exactly which subscription best suits your pace or team.
Do I get a certificate after passing a practice exam?
No. SwitchSkills is a practice platform and does not issue certificates or diplomas. If you pass a practice exam, you can download a proof of practice exam as a reminder. You sit the official exam at an exam body, which also issues your certificate. Your employer gives you your written designation (aanwijzing).
How do I know if I am ready for the exam?
For each module you can see how you are doing and what your estimated exam score is. If you score well above the 70% pass mark in several exam simulations and all modules are up to standard, it is a good time to book your exam.
What is spaced repetition and how does it help me?
Questions you got wrong come back automatically just when you are about to forget them. That way you spend more time on what you have not mastered yet and less time on material you already know.
Can I track my progress?
Yes. You can see which topics are going well, where you still make mistakes and what the logical next step is. That lets you study in a more targeted way instead of going through everything again.
Are the questions based on the real exam?
The questions are built around the official exam objectives and practise the topics, way of thinking and practical situations you will encounter in the VP and IVWV exams. They are not real exam questions.
Can I use SwitchSkills on my phone?
Yes. SwitchSkills works on mobile, tablet and desktop, so you can also fit in a short practice session in between.
Do you offer company licences?
